Manual Lymphatic Drainage - Pre and Post surgery Treatment
One of the side effects of cosmetic and reconstruction surgery is swelling. This is a normal inflammatory response and a part of the healing process as fluid rushes to the area to nourish it with white blood cells. Body procedures, particularly tummy tucks and liposuction, often cause additional swelling as excess fluid and fat cells will harden within a few weeks of surgery.
Lymphatic massage helps to move the fluid that’s built up and allows it to move back into the lymphatic passages where excess waste and fluid can be flushed from the body. This prevents fibrosis, which is the development of thick, fibrous scar tissue under the skin as well as reduces swelling and bruising, lymphatic drainage drainage is highly recommend after surgery for both their patients’ comfort as well as to help them get the best possible results after their procedure.

Sports Massage eases tight or sore muscles and improves joint mobility, helping the body to move better and recover from exercise faster. It accelerates healing of soft tissue injuries by encouraging blood flow by carrying oxygen, nutrients and treating muscle tightness and in elasticity that can hinder blood flow.
It can also improve posture, and help address the musculoskeletal impact on today's sedentary and desk-bound working practice.
In addition to it's physical effect, Sports Massage Therapy can also reduce stress, anxiety and improve mental and physical relaxation that promotes a greater sense of well-being.

Pre Massage
A pre event massage is used before activity to prepare the body for exercise. A pre event massage can be beneficial before training or important competitions. A pre event massage can be adapted to sporting context or personal preference. A stimulating pre event massage uses tapotement massage techniques such as hacking, kneading and beating and pounding. A stimulating pre event massage is vigorous and prepares people mentally for performance. A pre event massage can also be a relaxing experience. A relaxing pre event massage aims to decrease stress levels and calm nerves before important competitions or races.
A pre event massage can be used to help reduce stress. Before exercise or competitions, adrenaline increases and emotions of stress and anxiety rise. High levels of stress and anxiety can have a negative effect on the body and affect performance badly. Increased stress can also result in high muscle tone. High tone reduces flexibility and function of the muscles and will therefore affect athletic performance negatively. Massage is an effective tool used on the muscles before activity to reduce stress mentally and physically. A pre event massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system in the body that regulates the body's relaxed state. A massage also decreases the stress hormone from being released and controls the levels of adrenaline. A massage helps physically before exercise by increasing the temperature of muscles so that they are relaxed and more flexible.

Massage is used commonly for pre event or before exercise. Massage can help treat pre event on many circumstances. These circumstances include:

Many massage techniques are utilise to increase blood circulation, remove metabolic waste and calm muscles down after activity. Post event massage uses light pressured techniques alongside passive stretching to help regain normal muscle resting lengths after strenuous exercise. A post event massage helps treat and prevent delayed onset muscles, fatigue and tightness.
A post event massage can help treat tight muscles. Muscles can become tight after exercise due to over-training. Tightness can be the result of microscopic tears of the muscle fibres incurred during activity. An increase of tight muscles can lead to injuries such as muscle strains and tears. Massage helps to treat muscles post exercise to prevent tightness from occurring. Massage helps by increasing the energy circulation to remove metabolic wastes. Decreasing the amount of metabolic waste left over from exercise helps to reduce the chances of tightness.
